Smack N' Burgers a new age burger scene with old-school charm
At Market Street Smack N' Burgers, everything revolves around the fusion of the old school and the new school. According to the husband and wife duo who own the joint, Kevin Le and Amanda Meuy (pronounced May), their Smack N' burgers — most of which come with a crispy smashed patty, American cheese, their signature Smack N' Sauce and all the traditional veggie fixings on a potato bun — were designed to be a combination of the simplified smash burger that took the world by storm over the last decade, and the classic veggie-stacked burger. But whereas the old-school style involved "frozen pucks you throw on (a grill)," Le said, Smack N' Burgers prides themselves on their fresh, never frozen, angus beef and vegetables prepped for service daily. "Nothing's sitting for two or three days or whatever it is. It's that day," said Le. The historied building that houses Smack N' Burgers has also been imbued with a modern touch. Located on 3443 South Market Street, the building has long been the home of old-school burger spots. Most will remember it as Pop's 50's Place , but before that it was an A&W Root Beer drive-in in 1960s and '70s,

2 Redding restaurants, gaming lounge close. IHOP's back | The Buzz
While the restaurant cited several things that led to its closing, the Olney Creek Bridge replacement project certainly played a role in Bird & Beef’s decision. The restaurant, which opened in November 2025 in the old Snack Shack building on Eastside Road, posted on its Facebook page on Sept. 9: “Over the last couple of months, Bird & Beef has been navigating a lot of changes with the construction on our road, traffic flow, staffing, and rising food costs.” Bird & Beef is just yards away from the bridge replacement project, which has been long delayed. But work has kicked into high gear over the last several months. That work has reduced traffic to one lane for portions of Eastside Road. Vehicles traveling north and south are piloted via temporary traffic signals. The wait for the light to turn green backs up traffic on Eastside Road in both directions. In its Facebook message, Bird & Beef stated the work made it a challenge for customers. “We’re incredibly grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown us over the last year. Our joy has been getting to cook for you, create something new, and bring fun, creative food to the

Anthony’s Bar & Grill is a Mediterranean odyssey into food and drink
Stepping into Anthony’s Mediterranean Bar & Grill in downtown Redding is best described as two experiences in one. There’s the restaurant side, where diners can explore the healthy flavors of Greek cuisine, and then there’s a hidden part in the rear – a modern-day speakeasy that caters to connoisseurs of top-shelf liquor. Anthony’s owner Amin Wahbi declares on his website that he has the best Greek food in the North State. “Of course,” he says. “We have really good food.” Wahbi has pretty much cornered the market on Greek fare in Redding. Originally from Syria, Wahbi moved to Redding in 2007 when he was 24. He came here after living in Michigan for 4 years, where he was in the liquor business. He purchased Bob’s Liquors on Hartnell Avenue, which he still owns, and in 2011 opened the Greek Shack in a blue hut next door. Wahbi expanded by opening the original Anthony’s Mediterranean Cuisine in July 2015 on Eureka Way in west Redding. His loyal fan base was disappointed when he closed that location in 2021 in his quest to open a full restaurant and bar. He also operated a drive-thru kiosk called Xander’s Greek Gyro on Churn Creek
