Water Days is June 28-29
We encourage people to bring a lawn chair, sit in the street, listen to music or dance, and have a nice visit with your friends and neighbors.”. Water Days, a two-day event, happens June 28-29 this year, and the festivities begin with a Main Street block party in Nucla at 6 p.m. that Friday. A county commissioner for all
I wish to voice my support in the current District One County Commissioner primary election for Anne Brown. Anne has promised to be a county commissioner for all!. I know Anne as a friend, as a fellow employee during the county’s response to Covid-19, as a volunteer at the Norwood Food Bank, and now as commissioner representing our friends to the East. Wright’s Mesa residents have greatly appreciated her extensive involvement in the county response to the industrial solar development that threatened our home and for her attention to the crisis our local food bank experienced last year. Anne has demonstrated her willingness to be county commissioner for all!

SMPA election: Loczy elected, Brown reelected
Last week, San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) held its 85th annual meeting at its office in Nucla. The meeting concluded with the reading of results for its board elections in District #1 (which covers parts of Montrose, San Miguel, Ouray and Dolores counties) and District #4 (which covers parts of Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel counties including Colona and portions of Log Hill Village and Telluride).
Former Commissioner Sherlock endorses Brown
I have lived in the county for 35 years, including many years in Telluride and now in Norwood. I am a former District 3 County Commissioner. Anne Brown and I had offices in the Pekkarine Building in the early ‘90s. We were both one-woman operated businesses. Mine was an employment agency and property management company. Anne was in marketing research. We shared many thoughts and opinions about ourselves and loved ones. I remember thinking she was so genuine, funny and very smart. We came from different worlds but it made no difference. Being self-starters, very independent and gutsy, there was an automatic attraction and friendship.
