MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - A South Bend man has been charged in connection with a shooting and vehicle theft that happened late Tuesday night in Mishawaka. The Mishawaka Police Department says Julio Enrique Melendez, 37, is facing charges of motor vehicle theft and operating while intoxicated in relation to the incident.

A Plymouth man was arrested Tuesday, May 30 after the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a call that a man was cut by a woman and he was bleeding profusely. When officers arrived at the scene in the 10,000 block of Lincoln Highway in Plymouth, they found 34-year-old Drew DeMask laying on top of items in a garage with blood on one of his arms from a laceration. An officer rendered first aid and assisted him from the garage until Plymouth EMS arrived at the scene.

The Plymouth Police Department recently arrested two people in two separate incidents. Plymouth Police were called to Walmart Sunday, May 28 on a report of a suspicious person parked in the parking lot. Officers found the sole occupant of the vehicle and identified him as Robert Quinn Jr., 38 years old, from Winamac.

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - Last June, police were called to Merrifield Pool to respond to a large fight involving 25 to 30 juveniles. Now, the pool has made some changes to their rules, like no longer allowing day passes to be purchased by anyone, requiring photo identification and passes to get in.

Two South Bend police officers are recovering after receiving dog bites while responding to a domestic dispute on Orange Street. It happened on Tuesday morning, May 30. WNDU reports the officers were attacked by one of two dogs that charged at them while on the call at a home in the 2500 block of Orange Street. The officers used Tasers to stop the attack. A LaPaz man was arrested Sunday, May 28 following a traffic stop in Marshall County. Police say the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center received a phone call just after 2 p.m. ET of a man in a silver SUV traveling southbound on Michigan Road from the LaPaz area. He was allegedly tailgating and harassing his estranged wife.

A South Bend Man was arrested Friday, May 26 following a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 30 and Oak Drive in Plymouth just after midnight. According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, 41-year-old Jeremy Hill was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The Marshall County K9 officer Bennett and his partner K9 Diesel were called to conduct a search. The K9 reportedly alerted to the odor of narcotics from the vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently searched and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine was found. The substance was field tested and showed a positive result for methamphetamine.

(Hudson Lake, IN) - A 21-year-old man was allegedly drunk when he drove his sports car into a house in La Porte County early Saturday over in Hudson Lake. According to police, the driver said he just purchased a 2018 Porsche and was showing off for his friend, who was a passenger in the car. It appears he was traveling too fast for a curve and drove into the yard, before slamming into the side of the house on Bell Avenue. The impact was hard enough to move the house partially off its foundation, as well as to induce heavy damage on the inside of the structure.
