Fire destroys home in Norwell. Two people displaced

NORWELL − Fire destroyed a home on Upper Ferry Lane early Thursday morning, the Norwell Fire Department said.

The fire broke out about 3:30 a.m. March 28. The two people inside the home were able to escape without injuries, the department said.

"The first arriving engine reported 'heavy fire conditions throughout the home,'" the department said in a Facebook post . "A working fire was called bringing in additional resources."

The department said the road is not equipped with fire hydrants.

"Due to the difficult conditions, the home suffered significant damage," the department said, adding that the fire appears to have started outside the home. The exact cause remains under investigation.
