D.A. Tierney Holds Inaugural ‘Fentanyl Summit’
The ongoing fentanyl epidemic has elicited responses from nearly all levels of government, many of which have been unique and urgent in addressing the issue. A press conference held last week urged Albany lawmakers to pass four laws that backers deem as “common sense” proposals to help mitigate the effects of the problem.
Sharks will be back off Long Island and NYC beaches
Sharks will be back in waters off Long Island and New York City this summer season. Shark Expert Greg Metzger with The South Fork Natural History Museum says the shark forecast is the same as it has been the last few years. The expectation is the same number of sharks and same species will be back near the beaches. This comes after a handful of people were bitten last season. However, Metzger says swimmers should not be afraid to go into the water.
Huntington Town holds wreath laying ceremony in commemoration of Memorial Day
The Town of Huntington hosted a Wreath Laying Ceremony on May 26 at Veterans Plaza on the front lawn of Town Hall on May 26 in commemoration of Memorial Day. Wreaths were placed to honor fallen service members from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, Women Veterans, and the Middle East; Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.
