East Jordan Remembers
East Jordan is gearing up for Memorial Day observances on Monday, May 27, starting at 6am with coffee at American Legion Hall followed by a 7:15am departure for cemeteries holding military services (Calvary, Pesek Bohemian, Dunsmore, Sunset Hill, and Grandvue). At 10:45am, veterans and auxiliary will lead a parade from Legion Hall on Main St. to Memorial Park for Memorial Service at 11am. Later, a Memorial Day Open House will be held from 1-3pm at The Depot Teen Center with brats and chili dogs by donation and live music by First Friday.

Fallen Michigan Conservation officers remembered in Roscommon
ROSCOMMON COUNTY — Conservation officers from Michigan were remembered during a ceremony in Roscommon County on Wednesday. A Memorial Day ceremony for peace officers also was held at the Ralph A. MacMullan Conference Center earlier Wednesday. Seventeen fallen conservation officers were remembered, including an officer from Traverse City. Lt. Jeremy Payne, the district law supervisor of the Law Enforcement Division of Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources, said being a conservation officer is dangerous work.

Traverse City commissioners will vote tonight (Monday) on approving a liquor license for a planned new tasting room on West Front Street from Petoskey’s High Five Spirits. Commissioners will also hold a public hearing on the city’s proposed 2024-25 budget and vote on contracts with Traverse Connect for economic development services and the Grand Traverse Conservation District to manage Brown Bridge Quiet Area, as well as terminating an agreement with the TC Downtown Development Authority for parking services.

Glen Arbor Chamber Of Commerce Plots Summer 'Season Opener' For This Weekend
The Glen Arbor Chamber of Commerce and participating businesses are marking the start of the summer season this weekend with a baseball-themed season opener promotion. Starting today, Friday, May 17, and running through Sunday, May 19, customers can pick up special event “batter cards” at M22 Glen Arbor or Cottonseed Apparel. Each card has six blank “bases” that can be stamped by any participating businesses in the area. Purchases “are encouraged by not required” in order to get a stamp from a participating business.
