31st Annual Charcoal Chicken and Brat Dinner at Boyd sees strong turnout
Sunday, April 28 was a special day in Boyd. Converging on the Boyd Fire Station from 11 a.m to 2 p.m, local residents could choose 1/2 chicken dinner for $15, a two brat dinner for $10, Brat and chips combo for $6, hotdog and chips for $4, with soda $1. Dinner was served up by the firefighters and included potato salad, baked beans, cheese curds, bread, pickle, bar, coffee and milk.
Minnesota man arrested following vehicle chase
TREMPEALEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - A Minnesota man was arrested today after leading police on a chase following an attempted traffic stop for speeding. On May 7 at about 1:16 a.m., 55-year-old Scott Coxworth of Houston, Minn., was arrested without incident after leading police on a chase from the Town of Gale in Trempealeau County into La Crosse County.

Norse softball team drops three
The Whitehall softball team struggled defensively, allowing double-digit runs in three losses last week. Two of the losses came to Dairyland Conference leaders as the top team in the Large Division, Melrose-Mindoro, took an early lead and won 14-7 last week Monday. The next day, the DC-Small’s top team, Cochrane-Fountain City, blanked Whitehall, 10-0. The Norse fell to Alma/Pepin, 10-0, on Friday, but no further information from that game was provided for the Times.

Ruiz Crowned Miss Arcadia 2024
Arcadia High School senior Briana Ruiz, daughter of Carolina Cruz and Rogelio Ruiz, was crowned Miss Arcadia 2024 during the 70th annual pageant held in the Arcadia High School auditorium Saturday evening. For her talent, Ruiz showed a robot she built and spoke about the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). In addition to receiving the crown, Ruiz was awarded a $1,500 scholarship. First runner-up, and winner of a $1,200 scholarship, was Kanah Slaby, daughter of Noah and Sarah Slaby. Casidi Pehler, daughter of Brian and Trisha Pehler, was the second runner-up, winning a $1,000 scholarship.
