Nittany Antique Machinery Association looking to raise $800K to buy its own property
The Nittany Antique Machinery Association is looking to raise at least $800,000 to purchase its own property because the nonprofit said it no longer feels comfortable having the future of the organization depend on land it does not own. The association said Monday that its long-term arrangement with Penn’s Cave has become so uncertain that it’s concerned it could lose access to the grounds it has called home for more than 50 years. “What has happened to NAMA has shown us how vulnerable organizations can be when their future depends entirely on property they do not own,” the association said in a written statement. “We don’t want other organizations to find themselves in that same position.” In addition to finding a long-term home for itself, the association said it also hopes to create an affordable community event space for families, nonprofits and other groups throughout central Pennsylvania. The organization said its effort is about “building something that benefits more than just our membership.” Attorney William Burnett, who represents NAMA, told the Centre Daily Times a suitable property for the association and the events it puts on is expected to cost about $4 million. Owner of Windy Heights Farm in East Huntingdon to revive Oakford Park Fruit Market near Jeannette
East Huntingdon farmer Greg Forejt Jr. aims to revive a decades-old market selling fresh produce near Jeannette that closed last year upon the owner’s retirement. Forejt, 34, in March purchased the former Oakford Park Fruit Market, 1008 Route 130 in Hempfield, near Jeannette. He is renovating the space — gutting its electrical wiring and installing refrigerated display coolers to sell meat, milk and dairy products.

Tucked Above A Western Pennsylvania River Gorge, This Glass-Walled Mansion Looks Like Something From Another World
Deep in the wooded hills of Mill Run, Pennsylvania, a remarkable house appears to rise directly from the waterfall beneath it. Fallingwater, designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, brings together natural stone, glass walls, and broad terraces that extend over Bear Run. From certain angles, the house seems almost impossible, as though it grew out of the rocky landscape rather than being built on it.

More Than 11,500 Vintage Pieces Sold in One Year Led a Pennsylvania Couple to Open Their Own Shop
More than 11,500 vintage pieces sold in a single year. That number stopped me cold, because it means someone was finding, cleaning, and shipping old treasures nonstop. A Pennsylvania couple pulled off that feat online. Then they made a bold move and opened a real shop with real shelves you can browse in person.
