NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 17-year-old was arrested on Tuesday in connection to an alleged incident involving a handgun at North Haven High School.

Officers were notified on Friday that a student from another high school allegedly displayed a handgun Thursday on North Haven High School’s campus.

Police executed a search warrant at 6 a.m. on Tuesday at the home and vehicle of one suspect. The 17-year-old Branford resident was arrested for threatening and breach of peace.

The suspect was also trespassed from all North Haven Board of Education sites.

During the investigation, police increased patrols at the school to be cautious. Officers said they believe the incident was not a generalized threat to staff or students, but rather involving specific students.

This incident is still under investigation.
