Columbus, MN — The Thursday night (June 6) harness racing program at Running Aces treated fans to a thrilling finish in the featured $15,500 Mares Open Pace. A well matched field of nine distaffers went into battle to determine who would take the title of the top mare on the grounds for the week, but this week that title would have to be shared.
Motley Ray posts track record win Tuesday at Running Aces
Columbus, MN — The Tuesday night (June 4) harness racing program at Running Aces saw some big performances despite heavy rains and a sloppy track. One of the most impressive performances of the night came in a $6,100 conditioned pace when Motley Ray (A Rocknroll Dance) surged late in the lane to get up by three-quarters of a length and stop the timer at 1:52.2 to shatter the previous track record for intact 4-year-olds which had stood at 1:54 for eight years (Linkjack Hanover in 2016).

Man, woman shot inside a residence in Grantsburg, WI
MINNEAPOLIS — A man and woman have been shot in a home north of Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Officials say that on Friday just before 7 p.m. the Burnett County Dispatch got a call from a child saying a woman had been shot. While they were on the phone with the child there was a second shot. The child then said that a man had also been shot. The child left the home and waited for law enforcement. When the arrived, they transported the child away from the home. The woman was taken to a Twin Cities hospital while the man was treated at a local hospital. He was also taken into custody by law enforcement. The shooting is currently under investigation. Forest Lake Area High School changes daily schedule, start time
At the start of next school year, the Forest Lake Area High School will transition from a seven-period semi-block schedule to an equal seven-period day in an effort to accommodate a smaller full-time staff, as well as improve student academic achievement in classes and standardized testing.
