NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Seth Glatz has a new home at Illinois State.

But he already says it feels like it’s a home he’s been in for a while.

Glatz transferred to ISU after two seasons at Western Illinois. He enrolled in classes in January and joined the Redbirds for spring football.

“It feels good to be a Redbird. The energy here is crazy,” the running back said. “I love being around this team, getting to know the guys. The transition was pretty smooth.”

Glatz had a record-breaking senior year at Morton High School in 20221. He was among the nation’s top high school running backs after he rushed for 3,246 yards on 373 carries and scored 46 touchdowns.

As good as that monster season was, Glatz thinks he’s better now. He says he is stronger, faster and smarter.

“I’ve definitely developed a lot more with my pass blocking,” said Glatz. “I’m seeing the whole field, reading the defense, it’s improved a lot. And my IQ.”

ISU recruited Glatz as a high school senior at Morton but the coaches say he’s a much better player now with two years of college under his belt. And when they saw his name in the transfer portal, they were immediately interested.

“He plays faster than you think and he is faster than you think. The numbers tell you he can run,” said ISU head coach Brock Spack. “He’s bigger and strong. The way he runs, he is hard to tackle. He’s been very good for us.”

Glatz will play in ISU’s spring game on Saturday at 1 p.m. He hopes to show the Redbirds they made a good investment in him by bringing him to Normal.

“They showed interest in me out of high school. I knew I’d have an opportunity to come in here and show them what I can do,” said Glatz. “Just being 30 minutes from home helps. I have to keep balling every day and show them every day what I can do to help the team out.”
