Monroe Comprehensive High School senior signing ceremony
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Monroe Comprehensive High School as seniors were honored one by one for successfully completing their high school journey. Principle Frederick Polite describes this senior class as resilient. “They’ve gone through so much. Even from their days in middle school, going through tornadoes, hurricanes, and then coming to the pandemic. They have not lost a step. They stayed there, they fought, they continued, and now we are at graduation,” Polite stated.
Baconton Community Charter School offering EMT training for seniors
The next generation of first responders will soon get an early start on their careers in Baconton. Later this year Baconton Community Charter School is launching the first Emergency Medical Technician training program in all of Southwest Georgia.
Miller County EMS first responder passes away
MILLER COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Miller County community is mourning the loss of one of their own. First responder Quentin “Kente” Carter has passed away. A Facebook post from the Colquitt Police Department says, “The city of Colquitt and Miller County have lost a brave soul who served with unwavering commitment. our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

ARLINGTON – Most Arlington residents – current and former – have fond memories of the May Day Festival, dating back to their childhood. Hugh Cunningham, a 93-year-old Arlington native, remembers being pulled in a wagon by his sister as they enjoyed the parade. Hilary Halford, another Arlington native, used to ride her pony to the parade and dance in the traditional maypole ceremony. Alice Wims, the Arlington Event Committee chair, said it was a time to enjoy good food, wings and ice cream, and sit around with friends and family, from little kids to great grandparents.
