BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Erie County Sheriff’s office says a wanted man was accused of dragging a deputy as authorities tried to execute a warrant for his arrest.

Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., officials said a patrol deputy saw Michael Trybuskiewicz, 40, sitting in a vehicle near the intersection of Routes 93 and 5 in Newstead.

According to the Sheriff’s office, a deputy approached the vehicle, but Trybuskiewicz put it in drive and sped through a rocky culvert while dragging the deputy.

The Sheriff’s office said the deputy suffered injuries to his elbow, ankle, shoulder and head. He was treated and released from Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

Later that night, around 9:15 p.m., Trybuskiewicz was taken into custody on Lewiston Road in Alabama by members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s office.

Trybuskiewicz, who was taken to the Erie County Holding Center, was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
