    Man dies from three-way car crash on I-80 in Contra Costa County

    ( KRON ) — Contra Costa County California Highway Patrol crews responded to a fatal three-way car crash on Friday morning. CHP said the crash occurred on I-80 westbound just east of Willow Avenue.

    Preliminary investigations showed a silver Chrysler 300 driven by a man crashing into another gold Silver 300 traveling westbound. The Silver 300 flipped and came to rest on its roof, blocking lanes.

    A few minutes later, a third vehicle, a white Mazda 3 driven by a woman, was traveling on I-80 westbound when it crashed into the Silver 300.

    The driver of the gold Chrysler 300 was not injured, CHP said. The woman driving the Mazda 3 sustained major injuries and was transported to the hospital, where she is expected to recover.

    The driver of the silver Chrysler 300 sustained major injuries and was taken to the hospital, where CHP said he succumbed to his injuries. Initial investigations determined the driver wasn’t wearing his seatbelt during the crash.
