    Suspect located after escaping from custody in Walker County

    WALKER COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Authorities were led on a county-wide search after a suspect escaped the custody of sheriff’s deputies in Walker County Monday.

    According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, a victim learned her stolen vehicle was in Parrish and contacted the agency.

    WCSO deputies alongside Parrish and Cordova Police Department officers responded to the residence on 3rd Avenue in Parrish. While on scene, they encountered the suspect, identified by WCSO as 26-year-old Braxton Lee Sides.

    Man arrested for alleged assault and robbery in Alabaster

    Sides was taken into custody after injuring one of the deputies while resisting arrest. He then escaped while handcuffed as the deputy was being treated by paramedics.

    After hours of searching by ALEA Aviation Unit and others, a citizen driving down New Oakman Parrish Highway observed Sides run onto Park Dunn Road.

    Authorities were able to locate him in the woods. He was transported to Walker Baptist Emergency Room for evaluation.

    Sides is charged with traffic warrants, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and third-degree escape. He is also wanted by the Adamsville Police Department and Double Springs Police Department for undisclosed warrants.
