If you're unfamiliar with the phrase "no mow," it's the term homeowners are using to describe their front yards that don't feature traditional grass. Many folks are opting to go this route, not only to cut down on the amount of weekly maintenance they have to perform on their property, but also to help the environment by producing more blooms for pollinators to visit as the migrate around the country.

Not only that, but these "no mow" yards may be helping the environment in other ways, since people are typically using natives that require less watering and TLC than their non-native counterparts.

Of course, some people shy away from this type of gardening because of how unkempt it can look, which makes this tidy "no mow" yard especially interesting to us!

I love the different shades of pinks and purples🌸🌸🌸 This is week 3 of front yard blooms. The alium is making their usual quick appearance. #groundcover #canadiangardener #perennials #frontyardlandscaping #nomowfrontyard #ontariocanada #gardensoftiktok

It looks like @ planttokwithme used a lot of colorful flowers in her yard, which gave the entire space a more thought out feel. So often people replace their grass with something uniform like clover, but these floral pairings actually serve to make the space look more like a massive garden than a lawn replacement, which gives it such a wider appeal.

We can spy a few familiar blooms in there, including some spring bulbs that we love ( hello, allium ).

If you want to do something similar, you'll need to put together a list native flowers that you'd like to see in your lawn, and then create a plan for how you'll plant them to get the look you're going for.

One thing you'll need to remember if you're doing this method is that not everyone likes the look of a "no mow" yard, so if you live in a homeowners association or a neighborhood where your neighbors are apt to complain, you may want to carefully consider your plan before getting started.

    Start a Wild Lawn Garden

If we haven't sold you on the idea enough, you may want to see what this woman has to say about the benefits of starting a wild lawn garden .

Not only does she point out that gardening can be good exercise, but it can also improve your health in other ways, like by helping you to eat more fresh fruits and veggies.

Plus, when you're growing plants at that volume, you'll have a whole lot more beautiful blooms in your yard, which could allow you to skip the florist when you're looking for a few cuttings for a vase inside.

'No Mow' Lawns Are a Hit

Personally, we're huge fans and we'd love to see more people trying this trend, especially those who are hoping to give their lawn mower a rest so that they can spend more time enjoying their yard than tending to it!
