GREENE TWP., Ohio (WKBN) — The Ohio Auditor of State issued a finding for recovery of $46,337 Tuesday against two former Greene Township fiscal officers.

Local massage therapist suspended following allegations

Sandra Detchon and Yevonne Postlethwait are jointly and severally liable for the finding, as they failed to remit withholdings and required state and federal tax reports in a timely fashion, according to the auditor. The penalties, dating back to 2012, resulted in fees and interest for the township.

“Paying late fees and penalties that could have been avoided by remitting withholdings on time does not qualify as expenditure of funds for a public purpose,” auditors stated.

With a total of $15,211 against Detchon and $31,126 against Postlehwait, the finding also included an audit of Greene Township’s finances from Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31. 2021.

According to the Auditor of State’s website, the legal counsel for the public office is authorized to collect the money within 120 days. If the collection isn’t initiated within that time frame, the Attorney General is authorized to do so.

Additionally, anyone with an unresolved finding for recovery is unable to receive state funding for goods, services or construction.
