CECIL COUNTY — Maryland Department of Natural Resources is opening the state’s fishing to anyone June 1, June 8 and July 4, even those without a fishing license.

This is a great way to explore fishing — or introduce someone new to the sport — without the need for registration or trout stamps either.

All anglers, regardless of license status, must obey the state’s laws on catch limits and size. Go online to https://www.eregulations.com/maryland/fishing/ for details.

To learn about what fish are in season and how to identify each go to https://dnr.maryland.gov/Fisheries/Pages/fishfacts-index.aspx .
