“I don’t have insurance. My home and car were spared, but I lost belongings I had outside, and have severe damage to my property. This is all I have.”

Hart rented out two trailers on his property directly next to his house. One trailer was destroyed, and the other is damaged beyond repair and must be torn down.

“One of my tenants lost everything. Thank God she wasn’t home when the tornado hit or she probably wouldn’t be here right now. And my other tenant lost their home, that trailer is too damaged for repair,” Hart said.

Right now, Hart says the biggest area he needs help in is clearing out a creek bed on his property which is full of debris.

Hart is disabled and unable to get to the creek area.

“I need someone with machinery that can scrape the creek bed. It’s just full of debris. Things like fans, cups, saucers, photos, jewelry and other items.”

He says some community members have offered their time and machinery to clear the creek of debris.

“I’d say about 60% has been removed, I just need help with the other 30%.”

Hart wants to thank Ron Geibel for helping with his machinery.

“The Colman, Nutter and Russell families have all been a big help.”

Hart says NC Sanitation has also provided several dumpsters, and although he is not sure who paid for them, he is very grateful.

“I want to get this debris cleaned up before they come to pick up the dumpsters.”
