TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Vigo County families whose children are due for school immunizations can take care of it this weekend with a free event.

The Vigo County School Corporation is partnering with the Vigo County Health Department to hold a vaccination clinic.

The clinic will take place Saturday, May 18, from 12pm to 4pm at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.

If you’re unsure whether your child is due for immunizations, you can call the health department or your child’s school. Nurses at the event will also be able to look up the information for you at Saturday’s clinic.

The goal of the event is to make the process easy for families.

“People have a hard time getting into their family doctor or making an appointment, or figuring out where to go, so we thought we’d find a central location to allow people to be able to come here and get what they need for the upcoming school year,” says Eleni Miller, Chairperson of Nursing at VCSC.

No appointment is needed for the free event and it’s available for students grades K-12.

Miller says there will also be fun activities at the event, like a bounce house, food and giveaways.

Students who receive a vaccine will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a bike.
