Jacobson — best in show

Onamia High School grad David Jacobson, who is currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, recently competed in a national championship speech meet as a member of the U of M Speech team. The meet, staged at the University of Michigan, featured over 50 teams from across the nation. The five-day event was the final meet of the season for the Gophers and they came away with a stellar showing which included three national champions, an individual sweepstakes placement of third, achieving the Division 2 Team Sweepstakes national title and a final ranking of seventh in the nation. David (above) took time to pose with his awards, including national championships in Prose and Impromptu Speaking. He also placed sixth in Extemporaneous Speaking and was a semi-finalist in Duo, Dramatic Interpretation and Rhetorical Critique and a quarter-finalist in Persuasive Speaking.
