Pearson struck out seven and walked one while giving up just one hit, a single by Kate Zrust. Meanwhile, the Storm made good use of five hits, five hit batsmen and 13 walks by Claire Geyen and Ava Guida.

Maddie Barnes had a hit and two runs batted in, Pearl Johnson had a double and knocked in one run, Charity Berg had one hit and a run batted in, Pearson had a hit and one knocked in and Jasmine Kingsley had a single.

The Storm split its first two games of the week, beating up on Deer River 10-0 and dropping a 17-0 matchup with Greenway-Nashwauk-Keewatin.

In the win over the Warriors, Shaley Pearson allowed just one hit in getting the victory. Bella Dunham led the offense with a 3-3 night with three runs scored and two knocked in. Johnson went 3-3 with three runs batted in and Abby Zapzalka, Berg and Kaija Neary all had two hits.

It was a different story against the Raiders as Pearson had the only hit for the Storm.

Neary took the loss in the one-sided game that left Coach Nicki Pearson a little bewildered, “We didn’t really come to play as a team in this one. Some players were ready, some were not.”
