    Troopers search for suspects in Clearfield County cable theft spree

    CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — State police want answers following multiple copper and fiber cable thefts in Clearfield County that are expected to cost more than $50,000.

    Trooper said multiple thefts have taken place between March 2 through April 26 in Knox, Pike and Decatur Township.

    Police said the first incident happened on or about March 2 when one or more persons cut two arial cables, one copper and one fiber, with the copper one being stolen. Troopers said this happened on Douglas Road, between Ryan Road and Condon Road in Knox Township.

    On or about April 6, two aerial copper cables were stolen from a pole along the right-of-way near Curwensville Tyrone Highway, crossing over Hemlock Hollow Road in Pike Township, according to the police report.

    The third incident happened on April 19 when one aerial copper cable was stolen on a pole mounted along Zion Road, between Condon Road and Joy Hill Road in Knox Township.

    The most recent incident happened on April 26 when one aerial copper cable was stolen at a pole along Dupree Road between Pea Vine Road and Arc Road in Decatur Township.

    State police said these vandalism and thefts have caused significant network damage to the communication infrastructure in Clearfield County. The final repairs are expected to exceed $50,000.
