Prom season is under way, and we will have photos from several of the events in Ottawa and Sandusky counties.

The Port Clinton prom was held in the Neeley Center at Terra State Community College in Fremont on Saturday. There was a disco theme for this year’s prom, which was attended by 200 students.

Three questions for Jaime Polter, Firelands Association of Realtors®

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=4eaxp5_0sj8CXWs00

Realtor Jaime Polter is the board president of the Firelands Association of Realtors® and co-owner of Polter Real Estate, with her husband, Steve.

Q: In addition to having been part of the Firelands board of Realtors, you were also recently appointed as the political liaison from the National Association of Realtors to work with Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. What are you doing in that role?

A: As the federal political coordinator, we are there communicating the initiatives that we do to protect property owners. The Firelands Association of Realtors® is our local board of Realtors in this five-county area, which includes both Sandusky and Ottawa counties.

It sounds like property ownership rights are your thing?

Yes. It is one of my personal areas of interest. The Firelands Association is also really focused on property rights and governing our members, as well as making sure which would be our code of ethics and things like that. For example, from a local level, it would concern local municipalities making new rules, or laws, that might infringe upon a property owner's rights. Zoning laws can change, making it difficult for property owners to do what they want with their own properties.

    Can you give an example?

Yes. A couple years ago, some local school boards were working with local attorneys, not from the area, and they were helping the school board in suing homeowners for changing their valuations, prior to (the county auditor's) triennial valuations. It would make their taxes higher. Through our advocacy efforts, from a local standpoint, those now have been updated, so they can no longer do that. That was a big thing.
