UPDATE: The missing child was found safe in Forsyth County.

DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Officials are searching for a missing child in a rural area of the Piedmont Triad.

According to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, they have spent the last day searching a 10-year-old child who lives in Davie County near the Yadkin County line.

The sheriff’s office searched for the child until around 10 p.m. on Monday, with assistance from area fire departments and rescue squads including officials from Yadkin County.

K-9s have been out searching and officials are back out on Tuesday, going over rough terrain and expanding their search outward.

They have no information to indicate that the child was abducted by a stranger. Anyone who might know anything about her location should call the Davie County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 751-6238 or email them at sheriff@dcsonc.com
