    Carter County Sheriff’s Office reports arrests

    The following arrests have been reported by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office:

    • On April 25, Deputy Dalton Taylor was patrolling First Avenue in Hampton when he observed a dark-colored SUV matching the description of a stolen vehicle from Johnson County. The driver, later identified as Andrew Nathaniel Gray, failed to stop, leading to a pursuit. Gray was apprehended after losing control of the vehicle and colliding with a fence. Charges include felony evading and reckless driving.
    • On April 24, Sgt. Joshua Peters and Deputy Joshua Smith responded to a trespassing call and apprehended Timothy M. Messmaker, who had outstanding warrants from Carter County Circuit Court.
    • On April 24, Deputy Dalton McCloud and Sgt. C. Carrier arrested Steven Shane Bateman on an active warrant for violation of probation.
    • On April 23, Deputy Matthew Lyle met the Johnson City Police Department and transported Vincent M. Shook, who had an outstanding warrant for theft of property ($2,500-$9,999) and joyriding, to the Carter County Detention Center.
    • On April 23, Deputy Storm Scalf responded to a disorderly person call and arrested Toby Ray Cooper for aggravated assault as domestic violence.
    • On April 22, Deputy Samantha Beckett charged Inmate David Paul Creasy with being a fugitive from justice after discovering an active warrant from Russell County, Va.
    • On April 21, Deputy Matthew Lyle arrested Mitchell Tyler Radford for driving under the influence following a motor vehicle accident on Rittertown Road.
    • On April 21, Lt. Justin Burchfield arrested Ryan C. Garland on three active warrants for contempt and failure to appear and transported him to the Carter County Detention Center.
    • On April 21, Lt. Johnathan Blevins arrested Joseph Richard Poulin for disorderly conduct after he became aggressive during a call to his residence.
    • On April 20, Deputy Matthew Lyle arrested Kevin B. Nunley on an active warrant for violation of probation.
    • On April 20, Deputy Matthew Lyle arrested Kermit M. Hinkle for criminal trespass following a call reporting an unwanted guest.
    • On April 19, Deputy Storm Scalf arrested Joseph Orndorff, who had an active warrant for failure to appear in Carter County General Sessions Court.
    • On April 19, Lt. Johnathan Blevins arrested Michael R. Charlton for domestic assault following an altercation on Hwy 321.
    • On April 19, Captain Daniel Kneaskern arrested Cody Matthew Pilkington for violating a protective order on Ruby Ave.

    Note: All arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
