    Two suspects airlifted after Summers County car chase

    SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — Two suspects were airlifted after a car chase that started in Summers County.

    Around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, Sheriff Faris attempted to hold a traffic stop on Route 20 in the Pipestem area of Summers County. The driver of the car attempted to flee, resulting in a chase that went across county lines and to the Lerona area of Mercer County.

    When the driver tried to turn onto Old Lerona Road, they lost control of the truck and hit a house. Sheriff Faris was able to get two people out of the truck before it caught fire.

    Former doctor from West Virginia arrested in Armenia and extradited to United States

    The suspects are awaiting criminal charges, however both people needed to be airlifted due to injuries sustained during the incident.

    Responding agencies included the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Hinton Police Department, Pipestem Volunteer Fire Department, Athens Volunteer fire Department, Princeton Rescue Squad, and Summers County EMS.
