The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office is the first coroner’s office in the state to receive an accreditation from the National Association of Medical Examiners.

Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said in a news release that his office has been fully accredited by NAME, effective this May through May 2028.

The accreditation means the office has the highest quality death investigation system and best practices set forth by NAME, according to the release. He said his office is the first coroner’s office in the state to receive the accreditation.

The Lehigh County office is also the third one in the country to have accreditation from both NAME and the International Association of Coroner’s and Medical Examiners.

Buglio said getting the accreditation is a “seal of approval” from a community of medical examiners, forensic pathologists and medicolegal partners in the country.
