⁃    Tell us a little bit about yourself and your experience/accomplishments

I grew up in Oak Hill in Fayette County and attended Oak Hill High School. My family has been in Fayette County for generations. Immediately after graduation I left to serve in the United States Air Force for more than 6 years before I was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. I was an aircraft avionics technician on MC-130H aircraft and was always attached to AFSOC units. I have lived in New Mexico and Japan and been on many different deployments and temporary assignments.

I am the proud father of four children and a proud husband. My wife and I work very hard to provide a good life for our children, and that is my first and main priority. I keep a picture of my children on my desk at the capitol as well as on my desk on the floor of the House. Anytime a hard decision is coming up, I always look down at the picture of my kids and ask: “Will this decision lead to a better future for them and every other kid in my area?”

After my military service I chose to move back home and pursue degrees in History and Education through Concord University. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a Master’s Degree in Education. I currently teach 7th and 8th grade history at Fayetteville Middle School.

My family attends Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill. My faith is the biggest thing that guides my path and the choices that I make.

⁃    What made you run for House of Delegates, or if you’re an incumbent, what made you seek reelection?

I ran for the House in 2022 and defeated an incumbent. I have served in the WV House of Delegates for 2 years now, and I am looking forward to serving Fayette County for another 2 years! I am running again because there are many more things I would like to accomplish. I have the energy, the drive, and my people know I care and am responsive to their questions and needs. I don’t always get it right or provide an answer that they may like, but I always answer! And that is a big deal and one of the reasons why I decided to run in the first place. I felt it was very important that our area have representation that was responsive and available and didn’t treat public service like some sort of club. I am not in office and I did not run for office to make it a career. I already have a career. I ran because I wanted to help people and do the work that has needed to be done for a long time. Public service should be about service to the people, not self-service.

⁃    What are some issues facing your district and West Virginia right now that you would like to see addressed and fixed? How would you fix those issues?

I have worked very hard to not only listen to the will of my constituents, but also work to find solutions to some of their problems. We have dealt with traffic regulations, the delivery of reliable water to customers, road conditions, illegal dumping, and issues surrounding the continued sewage leak out of Mt. Olive Prison as well as in Cannelton Hollow. These are just a few of the local district issues I have been working on–there are many more.

I have also worked very hard on trying to preserve our historical structures in the Thurmond areas as well as revitalizing Plum Orchard Lake. While tourism is a growing and vital part of our local economy, we cannot forget our own people. We have to fight for public lands and places that locals can use and be proud of. We cannot grow our economy and tourism at the expense of our own people. We have to fight for ourselves and find that healthy balance between positive growth and protection of local citizens and property.

⁃    What makes you stand out as the best choice?

I have the experience. I am available. I have the qualifications. I understand what it is like to struggle to raise a family here in WV, and I want to see a better future for my children and everyone else’s children too. I served this country in the United States Air Force and continue to serve Fayette County in the House of Delegates as well as in my classroom as a public school teacher.  I have made the hard choices and always done what I felt was morally right, and I have always done my best to vote the conscience and the will of the people I represent. I will continue to do that serving in the West Virginia Legislature for a second term. Let’s move Fayette County forward while also protecting the interests of our own people first!
