If you have bought a frozen pizza lately, you will want to check your freezer. Several of them have been recalled because they may contain undeclared allergens, the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced.

    Details on This Recall

Vermont-based food producer 802 VT Frozen is recalling around 8,221 pounds of frozen meat pizza after a branding mistake that labeled them incorrectly. The product contains soy, which was discovered after being testing by the FSIS in a routine procedure.

The products are labeled "MEAT!!! CRISPY WOOD-FIRED CRUST HAND MADE PIZZA" and they were distributed to grocery stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The pizzas come in square pizza boxes with red and white branding. They have a "best if used by" date range between April 25, 2024, and April 25, 2025, on the back of the packaging, and an establishment number of "EST.46308" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

There have been no confirmed illnesses or allergic reactions reported so far.

If you have purchased the product, either throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. If you have eaten one of these pizzas and you have a soy allergy, contact your healthcare provider.

    More on Food Allergies

Soybeans are one of the major allergens designated by the FDA. The other eight are milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and sesame. Foods containing these must clearly list them on the packaging.

Those with these allergies can have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume foods with them. Allergies can range from mild to severe, and symptoms of eating foods with those allergens can go from stomach cramps to anaphylaxis.

    Other Recalls

These pizzas are not the only recalls in effect for undeclared allergens, and the FDA recently announced that the number one reason for recalls last year was for this very reason.

Currently, there are recalls on several foods , including “King Kullen Broccoli Cutlets with Bread Crumbs and Parmesan,” because they may contain undeclared sesame and wheat, Roly Poly multigrain bread because the product contains undeclared egg pieces, “Kowalski Simply Sides - Jack’s Potato Salad” due to an undeclared egg allergen, and Guten-Free Plain and Everything-flavored Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Bagels that have undeclared gluten.

There are other recalls, too, for possible contamination. Right now, one of the bigger recalls is on basil that was sold at Trader Joe's .
