Pinpoint Weather: Near-record warmth possible on Monday

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — For Monday, high pressure will result in dry and unseasonably warm weather across Southwest and Central Virginia.

Monday will start with morning temperatures in the mild 50s and lower 60s. Some patchy fog is possible along and north of Interstate 64. Overall, plentiful sunshine is in the forecast for the day with warm winds coming in from the south. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the middle and upper 80s.

A storm system will pass just to our north on Tuesday, bringing hit-or-miss showers and storms to the region during the afternoon and evening. A few isolated showers/storms may linger east of the Blue Ridge for Wednesday afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-70s and into the mid-80s each day.

High pressure returns to the region on Thursday. Expect warm and sunny conditions with highs in the upper 70s and mid-80s.

On Friday, there is a chance for afternoon rain showers west of the Blue Ridge. Otherwise, the mostly dry weather will continue with afternoon temperatures rising into the upper 70s and 80s.

Another storm system will help bring hit-or-miss showers and isolated thunderstorms to Southwest and Central Virginia over the weekend. There is a better chance for rain on Saturday, but some showers will linger into Sunday. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, but closer to average. Expect highs in the 70s each day.
