Morrison County District 2 Commissioner Jeffrey Jelinski will not be running for reelection in the 2024 election. The last full day of his current term is Jan. 5, 2025.

Jelinski emphasized that the decision to not run for reelection was not born out of any ill will for anyone within Morrison County and that he had greatly enjoyed his time in the position. However, he said it was always his plan to serve for three terms, and due to redistricting, he will have effectively served for four terms by the end of the year.

Jelinski was first sworn in to the role of District 2’s commissioner in 2013, and was reelected to the position in 2016, 2020 and 2022. Prior to serving as county commissioner, Jelinski worked at the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office from 1979 to 1986 at the dispatch and jail, the Little Falls Police Department from 1986 to 2005 at the dispatch and records technology department and came back to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office to serve as communications supervisor from 2005 to 2013. Jelinski served as chairman of the Board of Commissioners in 2014, 2018 and 2023.
