TD Bank files to shut down 20 branches this month with others slated to close and customers must make financial changes

TD BANK confirmed plans to shut down 20 locations, according to filings with the government.

This month’s filings included closures up and down the east coast.

Banks like TD are required to report branch closing plans to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, or OCC.

On April 11, OCC reported 20 separate closure filings by TD.

Most of the banks shutting are in the Northeast.

It’s not clear when exactly these locations will shut down, but clients will need to find their new branch if they hope to continue in-person banking.

WHO’S CLOSING?

The 20 shutting TD branches are concentrated in just 7 states.

New York is losing the most locations.

  • 23rd and Broadway, New York City
  • 67th and 1st Avenue, New York City
  • Elwood
  • North Wantagh
  • Port Chester
  • Sayville
  • Washingtonville

Most of those locations are in New York City or Long Island.

Pennsylvanians will lose four branches.

  • Hanover
  • Hatboro
  • Skippack
  • South Whitehall Roma, Allentown

New England will also lose several TD Banks.

Two locations in South Carolina are slated to shut.

  • Camden
  • Lake City

BANK BUSTS

TD is not alone in closing locations.

Wells Fargo is also planning to close some locations, Daily Mail reported.

That bank is preparing to shut down some west coast locations.

With many Americans shifting to online banking since the pandemic, banks have shut down locations across the country.

2023 marked a banking bloodbath, with around 1,500 closures over the year.

California was hit the hardest by the wave of closures, losing over 300 locations.

A Wells Fargo customer recently had his account abruptly closed after 20 years.

A Navy Federal customer claimed the bank took $1,000 and left them "fuming"
