A police chase involving a motorcycle Saturday night ended in a crash with the driver injured.

According to NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP), troopers attempted to stop a motorcycle in Lee County and the driver kept going, leading officers on a chase.

The chase ensued down NC Highway 87 from Sanford into Harnett County. At the intersection of Highway 87 and Olivia Road, the motorcycle driver crashed into the rear of a Hyundai passenger car.

The impact caused the driver to be thrown off the bike, NCSHP says.

The person was taken to Womack Army Hospital with life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

The driver of the Hyundai was also taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
