Former First Lady Melania Trump turned 54 on Friday, and her husband sent her well wishes from in front of a Manhattan courtroom. However, a former Trump aide thinks Melania isn’t happy.
“I want to start by wishing my wife, Melania, a very happy birthday,” said Trump said in brief remarks to the press Friday, per video provided by C-SPAN . The presumptive GOP 2024 presidential candidate also shared a birthday video for Melania on his Truth Social page .
Trump was at court to handle one of several legal challenges he faces as he continues his campaign for a second term in the White House. This “hush money” case, in addition to his legal battles over sexual assault allegations made by columnist E. Jean Carroll, is potentially the hardest on his wife. He is accused of paying an attorney to cover up an alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels just months after Melania gave birth to their son, Barron, in 2006.
Stephanie Grisham – who previously served as a White House spokesperson for Trump and as Chief of Staff for Melania – told CNN’s Erin Burnett Friday “I’m sure she’s not happy,” about some of the revelations that came out during the trial, per video shared by Mediaite .
Specifically, she said that Melania would not be happy to hear that Trump’s longtime assistant Rhona Graff testified that she had contact information for Daniels and former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal, who also allegedly had an affair with Trump. Burnett noted that Graff said Daniels had been to Trump tower and that National Enquirer publisher David Pecker said Trump referred to McDougal as “our girl.”
Grisham said some of the revelations related to Pecker were news to her and likely news to Melania as well.
“Now, make no mistake, she’s not sitting home, you know, crying over this. But, you know, like any woman would be any married woman or woman in a relationship,” she told Burnett. “It’s not fun to hear these details. And I think that the difference between Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels is that, you know, Karen McDougal hasn’t been really out there in the news.”
People magazine also reported on another factor that might be making this year’s birthday week tough on the former first lady.
“She is still suffering the loss of her mother and this birthday is difficult in that respect,” said an unnamed source cited by the outlet. It said she planned to have a quiet birthday celebration with Barron and her father, Viktor Knavs. Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, died in January at age 78.
“In these days, which are embarrassing for her, she finds comfort in her small family,” said another source. People said the source was from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Fla.
