State Road 66 in Spencer Co. closed due to accident

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An accident involving a semi-truck hauling corn closed State Road 66 in Spencer County for several hours.

Officials say a semi-truck hauling corn flipped and caught fire on the road during the accident. Both drivers reportedly had only minor injuries.

The road has now been reopened.

The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office says State Road 66 is closed due to a Motor Vehicle Accident involving an overturned semi truck.

Dispatch expects the road to remain closed until after 3 p.m.

The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office says State Road 66 is closed due to a Motor Vehicle Accident involving an overturned semi truck.

According to Spencer Co. Dispatch, two people were sent to the hospital after the accident happened near Luce Elementary School.

The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office says the call came in at 11:47 a.m. Authorities say the roadway will be closed for several hours. SR 66 is closed at CR 650W. Deputies note they did have several calls about a car driving erratically prior to the accident. Officials say at one point the semi was on fire, but now the semi is no longer on fire.

We reached out to the coroner and she says she is not aware of any fatalities from this accident.

Drivers are asked to please avoid the area until further notice.
