    Cowboy golfers second, third in tourneys

    The Crook County High School boys golf team recently played a pair of tournaments on Central Oregon courses, finishing third in the Mountain View Invitational, held at Pronghorn Golf Course on Tuesday, April 23, then taking second at the La Pine Invitational, played at Quail Run Golf Course on Wednesday, April 24.

    At Pronghorn the Summit Storm won with a score of 320, while Bend was a distant second with a score of 346 and Crook County was close behind with a round of 349. Rounding out the scoring were Ridgeview, 350, Mountain View, 351, Redmond, 385, La Pine, 389, and Caldera, 438.

    On Wednesday Mountain View won with a score of 328, while Crook County finished with a score of 350. Rounding out the scoring were Redmond, 348, La Pine, 359, Madras, 368, Sisters, 393 and Caldera, 446.

    On Tuesday, Paolo Delia and Bryce Grieb of Summit tied for medalist honors with rounds of 76. Zach Nash shot a round of 85 to finish seventh overall and lead the Cowboy efforts. Codey Ortiz finished 13th with a score of 87, Alex Iverson finished 16th overall with a round of 88 and Beau Parker was one stroke behind in 17th with a score of 89. Also competing for the Cowboys was Brit Iverson, who finished 25th overall with a score of 94. Graeme O'Gorman also played 18 holes on the day, posting a score of 90. However, he was not listed on the Cowboy varsity roster, so did not factor into the team scoring.

    On Wednesday, Parker earned medalist honors with a round of 79, while Alex Iverson was tied for second with a score of 81. O'Gorman placed 14th with a round of 87, while Nash tied for 15th with a score of 88 and Ortiz was close behind, tying for 21st with a score of 92. Also playing for the Cowboys was Brit Iverson, who was not listed in the team's top five players, so did not count in the scoring despite posting a score of 89.

    The Cowboys are not scheduled to play again until May 6-7 when they compete in the Special District 1 tournament, which will be played at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks.
