HONOLULU (KHON2) — Get ready for the ultimate test of power, skill, and accuracy as the 31st annual He-Man Competition is set to take place this weekend on Maui and Oahu. Wake Up 2Day went live from Slims Power Tools Kalihi and met with Marketing Manager Megan Okamura to find out the latest details about this year’s competition including all the deals you can enjoy at the big tool sale.

Contestants will receive a $20 power buck just for participating. Challengers will showcase their strength by completing one competition manually, while vendors will demonstrate their prowess with power tools across three electrifying events.

Challengers will face the “Drill da Bit,” drilling a hole through a 4×4 using a brace drill.

Meanwhile, vendors will take on the “Cut da wood,” sawing through a 4×4 using a reciprocating saw, followed by the “Unscrew da Screw,” removing two 2-inch drywall screws from a 4×4 using an impact driver and concluding with “Drill da Bit,” drilling a 5/8″ hole through a 4×4 using a cordless drill.

Tim Galliardt from Milwaukee Tools and Jami Hayden-Smith from Dewalt shared with us some of the deals they’ll be offering over the weekend, plus how they have faired against some of the he-man competitors over the years.

Former champion, Kaleo Ah Sam was also there to show us his skills and share some advice for potential participants. Plus a sneak preview of the He-Man competition as he challenged Hayden-Smith and Galliardt.
