If you don’t have $1,200 to spend on a robot vacuum, here are some other options

If you’ve never had a robot vacuum , they can be game changers — especially if you have pets, kids or just live a busy life that leaves you limited time for chores at home. They let you set a schedule and then pretty much forget about vacuuming — the robot handles that chore for you as needed.

But Dyson’s new robot vacuum comes with a hefty price tag: $1,200. We love Dyson’s other vacuums . And this robot vacuum is packed with features. But does it justify that price tag?

What makes Dyson’s $1,200 robot vacuum so good

The Dyson 360 Vis Nav has a full-width brush bar, letting it clean right to the edge of rooms — something many robot vacuums struggle with — and its extending side ducts help it clean corners, too. The brush bar is triple-action, too, allowing it to handle all floor types, from hardwood to vinyl to carpets of different pile heights.

It can even handle hair (both pet and human) without tangles. Its 360-degree vision helps it accurately map rooms and zones, and you can control it using the MyDyson app to set areas to avoid, choose a power level for each cleaning zone and more.

In short, it has a lot of great features that will make it worth its price tag for some buyers.

eufy by Anker RoboVac X8

The RoboVac X8 has two turbines instead of one, giving it suction strong enough to get dirt and debris out of high-pile carpet. It also has a long battery life (though one downside is that it takes longer to return to a full charge than some other models). While it’s on the loud side, its precise mapping and navigation help it move around while avoiding obstacles.

iRobot Roomba Combo j7+

The Roomba Combo j7+ is a hybrid — it not only vacuums but also mops hard surfaces. Its vacuum function is powerful and it has a long battery life — it can clean for over two hours before needing to recharge. Though the mop feature is handy, it doesn’t have a mopping-only setting.
