YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mahoning County Commissioners took time Thursday to remember and honor those who have died on the job.

Commissioners heard from Ryan Koscho from the Cleveland office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Each year on April 28, the agency recognizes those who passed away at their job sites with a Workers Memorial Day.

The observance is also aimed at encouraging safe and healthy workplaces.

“It’s for them that we continue to fight for a safe and healthy workplace for all working people so the same fate doesn’t happen to other people — to keep families whole,” said Ryan Koscho, with OSHA.

Commissioners presented Koscho a proclamation in recognition of the Memorial Day observance. They also urged everyone to do what they can to protect the right to have a safe workplace for all.
