    Vinton County's Class of 2024's top students

    Vinton County High School Class of 2024 has two valedictorians — Michael Ramsey and Keaton Travis — and two salutatorians — Matthew Hembree and Evan Long. Buckeye Hills Career Center’s top student is Desiree Secora. Congratulations to all these Vikings’ scholars!

    Valedictorian: Michael Ramsey is the son of Dan and Christy Ramsey. During his four years at VCHS, he has been an active member of Business Professionals of America — specializing in the First Tech Challenges, a member of the Viking Players and was a member of the golf team. Michael’s future plan is to attend Ohio University, or The Ohio State University, in the fall to major in Chemical Engineering.

    Valedictorian: Keaton Travis is the son of Larry and Karen Travis. During his four years at VCHS, he has been a member of Business Professionals of America, a four year letterman in cross county and a 3 year member of the baseball team. Keaton’s future plan is to attend Miami University to pursue a degree in cybersecurity.

    Salutatorian: Matthew Hembree is the son of Sara McNally and Brad Hembree. During his four years at VCHS, he has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, the Spanish Club, a two year Varsity Letterman in Basketball and a four year Varsity Letterman in Football and Track. Matt’s future plan is to attend Ohio University and major in pre-physical therapy.

    Salutatorian: Evan Long is the son of Jennifer Justice and Christopher Long. During his 4 years at VCHS, he has been a 4 year Marching and Concert band letterman; a 3 year member of the Viking players and a member of the VCHS Choir. Evan’s future plan is to attend Miami University to major in Political Science, to eventually become a lawyer.

    BHCC Top Student: Desiree Secora is the daughter of Crystal King and Josh King. She has been a member of the Volleyball team, Beta Club, a three-year member of the French Club and a four year member of 4H. Her future plan is to attend the University of Rio Grande to obtain her RN degree and then onto a BSN.
