SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is proud to work alongside the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Each year, National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day offers those in Sarasota County and throughout the United States the opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous prescription drugs that are unused, expired, unwanted, and potentially hazardous. This campaign is a reminder that cleaning out prescription drugs from our homes assists in preventing drug abuse and theft while saving lives and protecting the environment.

The DEA encourages citizens to clean out unused prescription medications periodically and provides residents with the information for proper disposal.  Local drop-boxes are specifically for the collection of tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. No other forms of medication are allowed. The DEA National Take-Back Day is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the National Prescription Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 27 by placing expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs in the drop-box located in our headquarters lobby at 6010 Cattleridge Blvd., Sarasota, between 7:00am – 7:00pm.

You can learn more about this event by visiting www.deatakeback.com or by calling 800-882-9539.
