A new library is coming to eastern Lincoln County after commissioners approved the purchase of land for the facility.

County commissioners approved the roughly $1.2 million purchase at the April 15 meeting, The Lincoln Herald first reported .

The library will be located on a 55-acre parcel on N.C. 73, about two miles west of East Lincoln High School. Funds for the purchase will come from money received from the state in the 2023 budget, according to county documents .

The land will eventually include a park and the new library will be named for N.C. Rep. Jason Saine, who represents Lincoln County.

Saine secured $18 million for Lincoln County libraries in last year’s state budget, the Herald reported.

It will be the second library in eastern Lincoln County after the Florence S. Shanklin Branch Library in Denver, which opened in 2003.
