There are plenty of people who are content with their hotel room being just four walls, a clean bed, and a bathroom. The real vacation is outside, and the hotel is just a nice place to recharge. Still, generic hotel rooms are a dime a dozen. If you've got the money for something special, why not spring for a unique suite; something that becomes a special vacation memory of its own?

That's what Rachelle Vinnaive treated herself to when she booked one of Australia's first underwater suites for a one-of-a-kind vacation for two. She was instantly awestruck by her incredible room, but her followers had a much more.... anxious reaction. See what you think:

According to Rachelle ( @rclbeauty101 on TikTok), this was one of the "Reefsuites" offered by Cruise Whitsundays. According to the Cruise Whitsundays website , the two Reefsuites are Australia's first underwater accommodations on the Great Barrier Reef . These underwater suites boast glass walls and floor-to-ceiling views of the ocean landscape surrounding them. Rachelle was completely delighted from the moment she stepped inside. I mean, c'mon, she got to watch a sea turtle swim right past her bathroom. How cool is that?

Not everyone was a fan, though. It's a good thing that Rachelle was happy with her unique hotel room , because the response she got from viewers online was largely negative. Fear of the ocean is a powerful emotion, and the very thought of even stepping into an underwater room was a bridge too far for a lot of people!

"I feel like I can't breathe just by watching this," said @hannah_chichi_09.

"I would have a full-on panic attack," admitted @yourlocalfruityboi.

"This would be a nightmare for me. I'm so afraid of drowning," worried @mad.nic_fl.

Why the Reefsuites Are Safer Than They Look

OK, let's talk about that fear of drowning. I get it- being surrounded by water on all sides is a really intense fear for a lot of people, especially if the only thing separating you and it is a few glass walls!

However, guests in the Reefsuites aren't stuck in a death trap with no way out. As Rachelle explains in a follow-up video , both Reefsuites are on the underside of a large pontoon boat . Just out of frame in her original video, there's a short flight of stairs that leads to the top deck.

Compare that to the famous Muraka underwater suite in the Maldives. While the Muraka is designed to be incredibly safe and withstand the pressures of the ocean, the "escape route" isn't as direct as the Reefsuites'. According to the British GQ , the Muraka is reached from the surface by either a private elevator or a spiral staircase . Again, the likelihood of a disaster happening down there is very slim, but I can still see why one would prefer the more direct emergency escape route the Reefsuites afford!

Then again, I'm sure the Reefsuites being attached to a pontoon boat comes with its own set of "what-ifs," like "What if the boat gets hit by a sudden storm?" At the end of the day, there are just some people who will never want to stay in an underwater suite, no matter how safe it is. I, however, have no such qualms about staying in a luxurious underwater suite like the Reefsuites. I just wish I could say the same for my pocketbook...
