That’s a wrap.

Another hardball season here in Cass County has ended as far as the regular schedule goes.

Our local teams have battled plenty of tough opponents, along with the weather, en route to playoff appearances.

Softball

On the softball side of things, Queen City won its third consecutive district championship and will face Quitman in the first round of the state playoffs.

The first game is scheduled for Wednesday, Apr. 24, in Quitman. Game two will be the following day in Queen City. Game three, if needed, will be decided by coin flip. All three games will begin at 7 p.m.

Atlanta also made the playoffs and will face Mount Vernon beginning on Thursday, Apr. 25, in Mount Vernon at 6:30 p.m. Game two will be the following day in Atlanta at 6:30 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be played on Saturday, Apr. 27, in Mount Vernon at 2 p.m.

McLeod won a district championship this year and although as of this article no playoff news has been released, it seems as though the Lady Longhorns will play either Fruitvale or Rivercrest out of District 17 in the first round of the playoffs.

Linden-Kildare made the playoffs as well and will play either Alba-Golden or Como- Pickton out of District 17 in the first round of the playoffs.

Bloomburg made the playoffs this season and may play either Saltillo or Sulphur Bluff in the first round.

Baseball

On the baseball side, Atlanta won a district championship and will head into the playoffs on a 10-game winning streak as of this article. The Rabbs have won 12-of-13 games which helped propel them to a title. Queen City will also make a playoff appearance this season. QC picked up three big wins to close out its season.

The Bulldogs outscored its final three opponents 38-10.

With baseball still left to play as of this article neither Atlanta or QC knows who they will play in the first round.

Also as of this article, and with a game or two left because of heavy rainfall last week, Linden-Kildare and McLeod’s playoff placement is unknown at this moment.

As with any outside sporting event, scheduled games are apt to change at any time due to weather or other various circumstances.

Check school websites or Facebook pages for any changes or cancellations that may occur.
