What we're tracking: High pressure remaining in the Gulf for the next couple weeks combined with a few low pressure systems forming in Colorado over the next few days will continue to bring strong southerly winds out of the Gulf swinging warm moisture into the state. Winds remain southerly for multiple weeks with the Gulf high pressure staying in place. This will keep our high temperatures in the 80s for the next few weeks straight, officially exiting the 70s. Winds pick up quite a bit going into this weekend with gusts up to 40-45 mph possible. One low exiting the Rockies over the weekend will push northeast and swing a dry line through about half of the state bringing the chance for isolated thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday.
Next 24 hours: The nice warm weather commences today with mostly cloudy skies decreasing to partly cloudy skies by this afternoon. Winds begin picking up today with sustained winds between 10-15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph possible. Breezy winds and some clouds will keep highs in the low-mid 80s today. Mostly cloudy skies tonight will hold lows in the low 70s before tomorrow's highs warm to the low-mid 80s again. Winds pick up more tomorrow with gusts up to 30 mph possible.
Extended forecast: Warm 80s continue with real warm weather entering the picture this weekend. Highs jump to the upper 80s and approach 90 at times next week. Winds greatly pick up this weekend with gusts up to 40-45 mph possible. Showers and thunderstorms are possible in the late weekend and early parts of next week with lows forming off the Rockies. Cloud cover continues to fluctuate but the good news is the Sun will be shining through the clouds most of the time! See below for more details in your 7 day extended forecast!
