TEXOMA ( KFDX/KJTL ) — As severe weather season continues in Texoma, the threat of strong thunderstorms potentially looms in southern counties into Tuesday evening, April 23, 2024.
The National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma, at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for Baylor, Knox, Throckmorton and Young Counties in Texas until 10 p.m.
NWS officials said there is a risk for strong to severe thunderstorms, primarily across western North Texas late this afternoon and evening, with large hail and damaging wind gusts listed as potential hazards.
Chief Meteorologist Michael Bohling said while there is a chance these storms may become severe, the threat isn’t too high.
“Isolated storm chance tonight and tomorrow, severe threat is on the low end,” Bohling said in a Facebook post . “Better storm chances come in late Thursday night, with better potential for damaging wind gusts.”
