DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Three people have been arrested following a police pursuit that began in Dinwiddie County and ended nearly in Nottoway County on Saturday.

According to a spokesperson for the Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on Route 460 in the Sutherland area of the county just after noon on Saturday, April 20.

The Toyota SUV instead fled the deputy, according to the spokesperson, beginning a pursuit along Route 460 that reportedly lasted until the Nottoway County line.

At the county line, the SUV stopped and three people exited the car, according to the spokesperson. They then ran away on foot.

A search began and, with the assistance of the Nottoway County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police, the three suspects were reportedly taken into custody without incident.

The spokesperson said two handguns and narcotics were found at the scene.

8News asked the spokesperson about the charges each person received.

“Each individual arrested was charged with assorted offenses associated with the incident and additional charges may be forthcoming as the incident is still under investigation,” the spokesperson said.

No other information is available at the time of reporting.
