Washington County man arrested for possession of narcotics and theft

WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL. ( WMBB ) – On Thursday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a theft incident.

Authorities said the call was from an owner of Circle H in Vernon. After arriving deputies obtained store video footage of two suspects taking sunglasses from a secured cabinet.

The suspects were identified as Larry J. Collins and David R. Belew.

Investigators said they contacted Collins at his house in Chipley where he admitted to authorities to stealing Costa Del Mar sunglasses. Deputies searched a shed on Collins’ property where they found the stolen sunglasses, along with a gun and multiple narcotics, according to a news release.

Collins was arrested, and charged with trafficking methamphetamines, possession of drug equipment, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, cocaine possession, and retail theft of more than $750.

A warrant was obtained on Belew for retail theft of more than $750.
