MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WNCT) — The NC State Highway Patrol is looking for the suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.

Master Trooper Rico L. Stephens reports troopers responded at 8:20 p.m. on Friday to a call of the crash involving a pedestrian and a passenger car on Tootle Road near Barbour Road. Witnesses said the pedestrian was struck by a dark-colored car traveling west on Tootle Road. The vehicle fled the scene after the pedestrian was struck.

The pedestrian, Cierra Lindsey Bergins, 31, of Sneads Ferry, was taken by air to Novant Hospital in Wilmington with life-threatening injuries. On Saturday, it was announced that she passed away.

Troopers are looking for a dark-colored passenger car with heavy front-end damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Highway Patrol at (252) 792-4101.
